1. Don’t skip breakfast!
Eating in the morning jumpstarts your metabolism. Try to eat
within the first hour after getting up.
2. Eat at least three small meals a day.
This will keep your body in a calorie-burning mode longer
and stop your body from ever going into “starvation
mode,” which will inhibit weight loss.
3. Don’t keep fattening snacks in the
house.
4. Don’t live by the scale! Body
weight will fluctuate from day to day. Instead, go by how
your clothes feel and look. Avoid using the scale more then
once a week.
5. Replace “stress eating” with
exercise. Exercise increases the metabolic rate and fat
burning. The newest government guidelines suggest getting a
full hour of exercise everyday. Remember, walking is a great
way to exercise.
6. Drink plenty of water. Water helps
rid the body of impurities, and has zero calories. Try
taking a water bottle to work with you.
7. Take a good multivitamin / mineral
supplement. Make sure you’re meeting your complete
nutritional needs. If certain vitamins are lacking, your
body will have a harder time converting food into energy.
8. Most doctors recommend losing weight
slowly. The body responds to rapid weight loss by
shifting to a “survival mode,” and the dreaded rebound
effect occurs. Try to lose weight too quickly, and it’s
more likely to come back…plus more. A
2-to-3-pound-per-week loss is the maximum rate at which you
should try to lose.
